A new Ethereum update will launch in about 24 hours, here's what's inside

The Ethereum network is now ready to receive an update, which will appear on block number 13,773,000, which is likely to be reached on the night of Wednesday, December 8. Given the increased volatility in the market, the network may receive the update sooner than expected, U.today reports.

While previous Ethereum updates have focused on changing, adding or removing various mechanisms on the network, the Arrow Glacier – network update is something that the blockchain has consistently received in previous major updates. The update is intended to change the parameters of the “Complexity” bomb on the network and push it back a few months. No other changes are foreseen in the future update. The complexity bomb will only affect PoW networks, which are only present in the Ethereum mainnet and Ropsten testnet. The Ethereum network is in a state of transition from PoW to PoS, so it was decided to delay the complexity bomb in mainnet only and try to transition the Ropsten testnet completely to PoS. “Complexity bomb” – is a special mechanism added to the Ethereum blockchain that is designed to significantly increase the complexity of the network, which will force miners to stop opening new blocks.
