Binance is partnering with an Indonesian telecommunications company to create a new cryptocurrency exchange

Binance has partnered with state-owned PT Telkom Indonesia to create a digital asset exchange in the country. Major cryptocurrency exchange Binance has partnered with MDI Ventures, the venture capital arm of PT Telkom Indonesia, to create a cryptocurrency exchange platform, the Cointelegraph reported.

According to a joint statement Wednesday, the agreement will also aim to expand blockchain adoption across Indonesia, home to about 240 million people. To help develop the new exchange platform, Binance will provide infrastructure and asset management technology. The agreement will also aim to expand the use of blockchain technology in Indonesia more broadly. The new partnership will allow Binance to expand its operations in the country, where it already has investments in cryptocurrency trading platform Tokocrypto. Binance CEO and founder Changpeng Zhao said: “Our goal at Binance –is to develop blockchain and the cryptocurrency ecosystem worldwide, and this initiative in Indonesia –is a significant step in that direction. With rapid technology adoption and strong economic potential, Indonesia has the potential to become one of the leading blockchain and cryptoecosystem centers in Southeast Asia.#8221 MDI Ventures – is a major Indonesian technology investment firm with a global portfolio worth more than $830 million in several sectors. The statement did not disclose information about other companies participating in the MDI-led consortium.
